Olivia Reed, Aspiring Birth Doula
My name is Olivia and I am passionate about providing emotional, spiritual, and intellectual support for women and their partners during their childbearing years. At age three I became fascinated with the evolution of my mother’s body during pregnancy, and I was thrilled with the miraculous addition of my brother to our family! From an early age I understood that women’s healthcare required not only technical expertise, but also a deep, loving respect for women’s unique experiences, decisions, and perspectives on life.
In 2014 I completed my B.A. in psychology at the University of Redlands, where I earned departmental honors for a research project that I designed on prenatal attachment. While conducting my study, I learned about helping expectant parents form meaningful bonds with their baby during pregnancy, while preparing for the physically and mentally intense feat of birth. After college I worked for a year in a women’s health physical therapy clinic, where I continued to learn about empathic, intuitive, and evidence-based care. In 2015 I completed the DONA International birth doula training, and I am now working toward certification. I am also enrolled as a student midwife through National Midwifery Institute, and I regularly attend prenatal visits, homebirths, and postpartum appointments as an apprentice.
My Services: I am committed to following the DONA scope of practice and code of ethics. As your doula I will provide the following services:
