Postpartum Doula
***Please note that I am completely not accepting new clients due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. Hopefully I will be able to take new clients again starting in early 2021. Thank you. Stay Safe & Healthy! ***
In 2012, I retired from nursing after 35 years of working in a variety of settings. Now I am involved in the joyous vocation of caring for families with newborn babies. I am thrilled to be of service to young families, supporting them in any way I can to help them get off to a good start. They are so beautiful to me. I offer a calm, caring and knowledgeable presence during the critical first weeks after birth. My focus is on high risk families with few resources. Many of my referrals come from social workers in the Early Head Start Program and from the Infant Parent Centers in Cameron Park and Placerville.
I am the blessed mother of 2 grown children who were born at home with the support of midwives. My training as an RN had taught me I wanted to experience giving birth at home if I could do so safely. I could and did! My babies were breastfed for about 2 years each. I am also the fortunate stepmom of 3 additional sons and delighted grandmother of 3 precious grandchildren. As I work toward completing the requirements to be certified as a postpartum doula, I find myself in need of evaluations from families who generally don’t fit in the high risk category. I am offering my services at no cost in exchange for evaluations from families who are having their first baby, planning to breastfeed and have 2 parents in the home. I will need to interact with the mother’s spouse or partner as well as with mother and baby. Please contact me for details. |
