BIRTH IS IS INSTINCTIVE. Women who choose home birth have the experience of enjoying long, relaxed visits with their midwife. My practice includes once a month office visits through your 7th month, every other week up through your 8th month and then once each week until your baby arrives. Home visits are scheduled at 36 weeks of pregnancy and for your postpartum home care I visit on the day following your birth, another home visit again on Day 3, and often on Day 7. Optional office visits are at 2 & 4 weeks postpartum with a final visit at week 6 PP. These 4-6 postpartum visits typically last for up to an hour and a half and often as long as two hours, as do your prenatal visits.
If you know someone late in their pregnancy who has decided they wished they had planned a home birth, it is not too late to switch to American River Midwifery. I will take all the time it takes to bring you up on what you need to know and help you be ready to have the birth you desire. Call me, we can chat and schedule an interview or prenatal visit appointment. You will know that you have found a midwife who will work with you to help you keep your pregnancy healthy and your baby's birth normal. A precious, joyous time you'll remember forever. Birth Works® Classes are offered in addition to Birth Works® Doula Services or Monitrice services. American River Midwifery offers personalized home birth service in the areas of Auburn, Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln, Granite Bay, Folsom, Sacramento & other nearby communities, Cool, Placerville, Camino, Grass Valley, Nevada City, Marysville, including most areas of Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Yuba Counties, and beyond. I love women, children and families, and have always been inspired by the strength of women and the miracle of birth. My name is Chelsea Fredlund and I am Placerville Midwifery. My journey towards becoming a midwife began through attending the homebirth of my youngest brother when I was just nine years old. My mother was an OB nurse who told stories about the beauty of birth and the strength of women at the dinner table. From this young age I have viewed birth as a normal and natural process. I believe that all women have the strength and innate knowledge to birth their babies if they are given the chance.
In my early 20's I knew that I would one day become a midwife. However, I also realized that I needed more life experience to be the midwife that I hoped to become. I completed college in 2002 and worked for the National Park Service for the next nine years. In 2009, I became a birth doula and a Birthing From Within childbirth educator in 2010. I started my own doula practice, Peaceful Beginnings, and volunteered as a doula at Sutter Davis for a number of years. My family was blessed with the arrival of my own daughter in 2012. Through this amazing home waterbirth, I gained even more insight into the birthing process. I have since completed a rigorous academic and apprenticeship program through Heart and Hands and the National College of Midwifery. I began my apprenticeship at the LifeCenter Birth Center and completed my journey with two area homebirth practices, New Earth Midwifery and Family Tree Midwifery in the Sacramento area. I have attended the births of women at the hospital, birth center, and at home. I am a Licensed Midwife through the California Medical Board. I attend women for well women care, prenatal visits, homebirth, and postpartum care. I also offer Birthing From Within childbirth education classes and placenta encapsulation. Please contact me for a free consult and to learn more about my services. |
