Franciscas Schwedhelm, Postpartum Doula
I am happily married to my second husband and I have 3 children of my own. Together, we have six and one grandchild.
I am very passionate in honoring the support of postpartum care for you and your baby’s postpartum experience. I find immense joy being present within the caregiving role as baby and mother cross the threshold of birthing into a new life experience. This experience binds the family unit in which each contributing member plays a special role in the family dynamic.
I come to you as an experienced licensed Early Childhood Educator. For 30 years, I successfully owned and operated an in home daycare of my own. The foundation of my experience was with infants to preschool consisting of a curriculum rich in supporting emotional/social and intellectual programming.
I am currently working on becoming a Certified Educator in Infant Massage, which will enhance the postpartum experience I bring to you. I breastfed my 3 children and supported nursing mothers throughout my career. Although not certified as a lactation specialist, I do attend classes and workshops on a continual basis. I’m here as a supportive resource for you in whichever form of feeding you choose to experience with your infant.
I come to you with certifications in the following modalities:

“Lying in”packages available upon request.
The postpartum time where the birth mother can lie in bed and heal/rest from the delivery of her miracle. A woman’s body is needing warmth, nourishment, support, quietness and a lot of rest.
What is the baby experiencing? Transitioning earth side is a lot of work for a baby. Lying-In is the first stage in the “Fourth Trimester” of acclimating baby to the world in a non-rushed manner. Constant skin-to-skin, softer noises, lots of sleeping, and even more breastfeeding help make this transition calm and smooth.
