Lauren Laks, L.Ac., CMT

Lauren Laks, Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist, is a graduate of the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco, CA, holding a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She is a licensed primary care provider by the California State Acupuncture Board and is a member of the California State Oriental Medical Association (CSOMA) and El Dorado County Birth Professionals. Her specialties include: women's health, fertility, pregnancy, orthopedics, pain management, and sports medicine. Prior to clinical practice as an acupuncturist, she was a retail supplement buyer and holistic health consultant for over ten years. She is also a California State Certified Massage Therapist in Tui Na (Acupressure) Medical Massage. Along with a passion for acupuncture and herbal medicine, she has a deep love and appreciation for the martial arts, with over thirteen years of training in Traditional Shaolin Kung Fu and Qigong.

In 2012 Lauren opened Way of Life Chinese Medicine, an acupuncture and herbal medicine clinic in Placerville, CA. Based on the philosophy that in order to obtain good health one has to make healthy habits a way of life, Lauren's custom treatment plans focus on diet, exercise, and lifestyle, as well as adjunct therapies like acupuncture, massage, and herbal medicine as a means of achieving optimum health. She also offers full lab testing and consulting services through Genova Diagnostics and SpectraCell Micronutrient Testing.

In addition to her private practice, Lauren was an Associate Acupuncturist for two years at Acupuncture Fertility Specialists in Sacramento and Roseville, under the clinical direction of Dr. David "The Baby Whisperer" Cherry, OMD. While there she helped hundreds of patients to conceive, maintain healthy pregnancies, and naturally deliver healthy, happy babies. She has worked alongside fertility doctors providing acupuncture treatments to In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) patients at California IVF Fertility Center in Sacramento and Davis and Northern California Fertility Medical Center in Roseville. She also has advanced training in fertility and pregnancy acupuncture from renowned women's health experts and teachers: Jane Lyttleton, Debra Betts, Randine Lewis, Yvonne Farrell, Claudia Citkovitz, and Sharon Weizenbaum.

Alex Tuggle, L.Ac.

Alex Tuggle, L.Ac. is a second generation acupuncturist and nutritional consultant. Having been born at home, Alex Tuggle was also raised entirely using nature-based medicine such as acupuncture and Chinese herbs since before he could even walk. Alex has gone on to finish his 4 years Master's degree in Acupuncture and Chinese medicine in 2007, and has been practicing in the Bay Area since 2008. Alex just recently relocated to Placerville, with his wife and two sons, in order to be closer to nature and provide a calmer and natural place to raise a family. Alex's main areas of expertise are nutrition, abdominal massage, healthy eating, hormonal balancing, fertility and heavy metal detoxification, using hair mineral analysis as a tool for determining your body's underlying metabolic deficiencies and nutritional needs. Alex also teaches Qigong classes every Tuesday in downtown Placerville at the Cozmic Cafe from 5:30 pm to 7 pm. Qigong helps to center the mind and strengthen the body through gentle movements and breathing techniques!

Alex just started practicing out of his new location 1108 Corker St. Placerverlle, CA 95667 alongside his colleague Lauren Laks L.Ac. He is in the office Mondays, Wednesday, Thursday, and Fridays from 9 am to 7 pm by appointment only!
